South New Jersey Road Trip
By Sara Bogue, American Biltrite Inc, Moorestown, NJ
I've always had a penchant for old, funky design elements, whether
it's furniture, automobiles, signs, or tchotchkes; they've always
fascinated and entertained me. Combine that with dabbling in
photography and I used to find myself going for a drive to nowhere to
see what I could discover.
This all occurred ten years before I ever worked in the sign
industry how strange! One of my favorite subjects turned out
to be signs, especially neon, in any condition. Standing back I
realize that my home contains a Philip Morris metal sign, a Cocktail
& Luncheonette metal sign (allegedly from a bowling alley), a
Gaines Dog Food clock, and a Borden's Ice Cream neon sign. Despite
the simple collectibles, my most favorite possessions related to this
hobby are the memories and photographs that I've scooped up along the
way.
